The Hangout Beach, Music and Arts Festival (HBMAF) announced that Trey Anastasio and TAB will headline the inaugural event May 14 -16 in Gulf Shores, Alabama (photo) -- a great little location on the Gulf of Mexico just outside of Mobile, Ala.
Other performers scheduled to perform at The Hangout Beach, Music and Arts Festival, May 14 -16 in Gulf Shores, Alabama, include Alison Krauss & Union Station, Ben Harper and Relentless 7, The Black Crowes, John Legend, Ray LaMontagne, Keller Williams, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Girl Talk, the Zac Brown Band, long-time jamband favorites Michael Franti & Spearhead, and veteran rock outfit, the Flaming Lips, according to this Hangout Beach, Music and Arts Festival press release.
Foodies planning to attend the inaugural Hangout Beach, Music and Arts Festival are in for a treat as well. There are no less than three food festivals planned for May14-16:
- The Gulf Coast Zydeco Music and Crawfish Festival -- This event promotes itself as a "food event" but it's more Zydeco music festival than crawdad-eating contest, according to the festival website. There will be Zydeco dance bands and dancers from Louisiana who will teach you the "Zydeco Two-Step. The part is that the festival is located about 35 miles north of Gulf Shores in the nearby town of Daphne. " Click here to visit the festival's website.
- Tri-State BBQ Festival -- This year's theme is "Smokin' in the Wiregrass." There are four categories where contestants compete against each another for the chance to win $2,000 and walk away as 2010's grand champion. A limited number of $25 VIP tickets go on-sale March 15, which gives guests complementary food and drinks, as well as other amenities. - Scottsboro Catfish Festival -- This is one of those hometown-style event where it seems like every resident of Scottsboro makes their way over to Jackson County Park, Event include a catfish rodeo for children, a catfish tournament for adults, arts and crafts vendors, a car show and free music concerts.
